I have Edelbrock ceramic coated shorty headers on my 5.9L, and they are unwrapped. I think you'll enjoy yours.

i cant wait.. pretty much everything is in the mial.. i just got my hobart welder and been practicing alot on some old piping. my headers direct fit highflow cat with the down y pipes and my flows are in the mail. gotta go to meinekie to get my pipes ( abut 3 lengths of 2.25 6 foot lengths should be more than plenty of pipe for a reg cab short bed) and i need to get some steel stock so i can fab up some hangers.. the right way instead of them chincy ones you get from auto zone or advanced. oh and my K&N FIPK GEN II is also in the mail.... IM SO EXCITED!!!!!! i feel like a little school girl.. kinda

I think the wrap destroys the headers and makes them deteriorate faster. Thats the only reasonable answer. And besides, its a pain in the ***** gettin the headers off anyway! - Richie

I heard that the coating plus the wrap actually gets the headers so hot they will start to crystalize and crack. One of the advantages of the coating is that it helps to hold the heat in.

yea the dude at edelbrock emailed me again and explained it.. the coating is only set to temp at its open enviroment... if wrapped it may and will downgrade the structural quality and possibly more likley start craking and making the headers very brittle. .

glad i asked huh [8D]

There's no such thing as a dumb question. I knew they had a good reason. I hope you enjoy your headers as much as I enjoy mine! Good luck!
