possible brake upgrade
Ok, so i have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 that hasn't been driven in 2 years. I'm dropping a motor into it tomorrow, and in prep work for that been cleaning rust off the truck. my front calipers look pretty bad, and i plan on replacing them. Should i go with the same 1500 calipers, or would the calipers from a 2500 work? I currently have single piston calipers, but would like more braking power, if possible. Any suggestions?
On my '96 1500, I did the following and it really helped the braking:
1996 Ram 2500 (7500lb GVWR) calipers and pads.
1996 Chevy 3500 DWR wheel cylinders.
Both are direct bolt ins and they made a huge difference.

Check all of your hard brake lines! They are prone to rusting and developing leaks, especially the long hard line that runs along the frame to the rear. If you plan to keep the truck, seriously consider replacing them.
