Default Upgrades and transmission questions

I have a 1997 dodge ram 2500 v10 and I love it! However I have some questions. First, are there any upgrades for the v10 out there that are worth while? And second, every time I pull anything with it I always check fluid levels especially the tranny fluid, but after a while it seems like it heats up and starts to slip. After I park it, I noticethat the pan on the tranny leaks around the pan gasket and I end up having to tighten the bolts on the pan. What could be causing this? It's a four speed automatic with overdrive! Please help!

Not much for the V-10 for performance. Couple companies make headers, but, that's about it.... Tuner probably wouldn't hurt. Hemifever Tuning is about the only one I know of that will work on the 97 though, and I think he is out of stock at the moment.

There is another V-10 build thread here somewhere... but, that member is getting pretty strange on what he is doing. Not something I would recommend unless you have a lot of experience building engines.

You probably have the 47RE, which is a pretty stout trans to begin with. Rumor has it, that internals from the 48 will go in there. Of course, there is a real possibility the whole 48RE will bolt right in.....

Nice! I heard that if the transmission filter was clogged I would have the same symptoms. I'm not sure though.

I'd change the fluid and filter, adjust the bands and delete the check valve in the cooler line.

After that, I'd be definitely looking at getting a larger cooler.
