shutting off

Default shutting off

Have an '01 dodge ram sport v8 new spark plugs and wires and distributor.......while driving sometimes it just shutsdown but the battery power and lights and radio still work after 5 10 mins it will crank back up any ideas what it could be???????????

Did it do that before the distributor was changed? Did you change the whole distributor, or just cap/rotor? Gonna move this to 2nd gen ram section for ya.

changed distributor cap and rotor and plugs and wiresdid it b4 changed and after

Probably crank or cam sensor failing. Cam sensor is in the dist. Strangely enough, it's referred to as a 'pick up coil'.... which it isn't.... really... but hey.

Crank sensor is in the bellhousing behind the passenger side head. It's fun to change. Of course, the cam sensor is stashed quite cleverly behind the kegger, under the cowl, in the dist..... six of one, half dozen of the other I suppose.

When it won't start, find out what you are missing. If you get no spark, cranks sensor. If no injector pulse, cam sensor.

when wont start the odometer and battery drop but i still have power to everything just wont crank the battery at that point acts as if it is dead and the it just spins but wont crank. after 2 3 mins battery juices back up then i know at this point it will crank.

check battery connections look for loose terminals at battery and block grounds body grounds also power wire to fuse panel

Could also be a bad cell in battery have the battery charged and load tested
