5.2 to 5.9 swap
I've been reading a lot about this, I've got the 5.2 in my truck, and I found a parts truck with a 5.9 and I'm considering the swap, but I haven't been able to come across anybody doing the swap with a 5 speed transmission? Would this be a problem, or would it benefit me? My truck is a 01 4x4 5.2 5 speed, the parts truck is a 01 4x4 5.9 automatic. Any input is appreciated!

This subject has been talked about a lot and most if all questions have been answered in one way or another. But to cover your questions here goes.
Yes you can swap the 5.9 into your truck and them being the same years helps. The main thing your going to need is a new flywheel as your flywheel from the 5.2 will not work on the 5.9. The 5.2 is internally balanced and the 5.9 is externally balanced.
Will your tranny work? Yes and no. Yes it will bolt up no problem and the NV3500 will work behind a 5.9 but from the factory the 5.9 came with a NV4500 so if you want to insure longevity of your tranny I would start looking for a NV4500 to swap into your truck and just drive it with the NV3500 until you do. Just don't do any 5,000RPM dumps on the clutch with a 4wheel burnout.
