5.9 vibration damper install? need advice!!!

Default 5.9 vibration damper install? need advice!!!

is the back of the damper supposed to be flush with the seal? i used a presser tool and it started getting really tight but didn't seem like it was going on anymore. help please!

If I recall correctly, the 5.9 damper does not install flush with the seal. Seems to me it sticks out about an inch or so. I installed mine in a similar manner, then tightened the damper bolt with a 3/4" impact wrench.

Well that's sounds about right cause its pretty close to the seal but not all the way flush and the jam nut on the presser tool is getting pretty tight and I'm a pretty strong guy so I don't want to go messing stuff up cranking the hell out of it!

Belt alignment will tell you if its on far enough, its sounds like it is, stop or you pull the threads in the crank. Good on you for using the proper tool for the job.

Thanks merc yeah I stopped when jam nut was getting tight. Crank pulley seems to be aligned with water pump pulley
