Default Diagnostic Code P0601

I have the P0601 code on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. I understand that it pertains to the Power Control Module. Just recently had the transmission overhauled and my check engine light came on again. What do I need to do to get the check engine light to stay off so that I can get vehicle inspected other than disconnecting the battery cable?

A p0601 is a pcm internal failure code and there is no other fix other than replacing the pcm.

The cheapest is probally a junk yard. I am gonna move this to the ram section, you will get some better responses.

control module ROM... your pcm controller is having trouble reading the ROM inside the pcm... that may (not 100% sure) contain the fuel/timing mapping to run your motor.

the wrecking yard would be your best bet. you may have to get the vin# programmed into it also (not 100% sure on this either) and the dealer should be able to handle that.

no, there is probably an address bit or data bit on the rom that was not soldered correctly and it finaly broke loose. you could open it up and see if you can find the rom and solder it back down (if that is the problem)
