Question What's your rpm range?

Asking this question because of posts like this:

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-high-rpm.html

And the countless threads that talk about intakes moving your power into the 3000-3500 rpm band, or hitting the redline at WOT, etc.

My truck idles at 600, accelerates to 2200, and then shifts. I drive like a grandpa and use at most 1/2 throttle, but even if I stood on it I couldn't get the rpms over 2800 before it would shift (and that would be one rude shift).

Now, my truck is bone stock (no, i haven't fixed the plenum or cleared the death flash, etc) and I rarely tow, so that could all be part of it, but are all the rest of you driving it around in the 2500-3500 rpm range all the time?

Looking for your experiences, not necessarily a diagnosis.

Thanks!

I had adjusted my TV cable on my truck and I can see 4500rpm before it shifts at WOT, 1/4 throttle it shifts at around 2500-3k depending on the gear.

*edit*
scratch that...I think 1/4 throttle is closer to 2k with 1/8 being at around 1600.

I can get to 5,000 RPMs before it shifts to the next gear, 1st hitting 5,000 RPMs @ 45mph, 2nd hitting 5,000 RPMs @ 75mph, and I'm not going to push it past 97mph to find the max RPMs for each gear. 18 year old truck going 100+ not worth the risk.

*edit*
My normal for shifting is about 1800 RPMs- 2300 RPMs

I'm sure you can find a gear calculator on the net somewhere.

I never have floored my truck from a dead stop. Good thing too, as my trans is flaky.

Do it all the time in the 76.

I'm with DD94... realistically I change at ~2000rpm, and push to 3000-3500rpm before changing if I'm in a hurry.
These # might change as I put more mods on... I know I tend at least 500rpm higher than I use to stock.

Ever since getting the valve body rebuilt and sensors replaced in my tranny, I get shifts around 2K-2200, usually hitting 80 @ around 2K in OD.....I think the most I pushed my truck (and I won't do it again) is 100 @ pretty close to 3K
