Exclamation steering whee not straight

hello guys
I replaced my steering pump and pitman arm today. I took the truck ride and realized the wheel is off center to about 9oclock. when I shut the truck off with the wheels straight I can move the wheel back to center with play. it had play before I changed the box but so much the wheel was never really straight? how do I adjust this? there was a small amount of pull to the ditch but not bad. I will have it lined up but id like to straighten the wheel first.

With that much play I'd say the box is junk. What brand? And the wheel should not be that far off unless something wasn't put back correctly. A 2wd does not have a drag link, only has the 2 tie rod adjusting sleeves.

you can try parking the truck with the tires in straight forward position, pull the pitman arm, center the steering wheel and reinstal the pitman arm

that might work on a 2wd, not sure. I know it does not work on a 4wd, as the pitman arm will only go on in one of 2 positions, right or 180 out.

I tried to move the u-joint on the steering shaft but it only goes on one way. I set the wheels straight and remove the pitman arm from the box I then set the steer wheel straight and presses re attached the arm. I seems a little better it looks like the spline on the arm and box are matched in 1/4 locations. go the arm and box from carquest premium brand

Fixed it today. I had to pull the steering wheel and center it on the steering shaft. It was well worth changing the steering box, the truck drives like new. shocks alignment and tires coming soon.

Did you replace the power steering gearbox or the power steering pump or both? Sounds to me like you changed the steering gearbox and the pitman arm..
