96 ram 1500 318 tranny swap?
i have a 1996 ram 1500 2wd with the 42re transmission bolted to a 5.2 v8.
im looking at chnging the tranny to a 44re.
is there any reprogramming that has to be done or can i drop the old one, bolt new pug everything up and go?
im changing it because i got water in tranny mudding last weeking and messed it up.

This. If your truck has a 42 or 44 in it now, someone changed it previously. Either that, or it started life with a 3.9 v-6......
