This has come up at least once or twice (aka a thousand times) on here.

EVAP system is an emissions requirement and doesn't affect performance. It takes gas fumes and directs back to engine to burn, reducing emissions.

You have a cracked line somewhere, or the purge solenoid isn't working correctly. Also possible your canister is saturated.

Here's a helpful thread https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-leak-fix.html

edit: thought you said you replaced the gas cap... try replacing it after looking for split lines.

Default P0441 fix

I fixed my P0441 code today. My truck is a 97 Ram 5.9 4x4. Right behind the air filter on the drivers side is the solenoid for the EVAP system. there is a hard plastic tube that goes back around past the dist. then along the passenger side valve cover. It goes to a vacuum line on the front of the throttle body. there was a 2 inch long piece of vacuum line that was all dry rotted. I replaced the small piece of tube, cleared the error code with my scanner. The light has not come back on since.

it'll take about 3 days for the code to either stay off or come back.

I have/had the same problem. I have a 2001 Dodge Ram. The lines were all in great shape and I was getting frustrated. What I found is at the two canisters (one round, one square) under the passenger side cab at the frame rail, there is a rubber connector that connects the lines to the circular canister. It is a rubber 90 degree elbow that has two small lines going into it and widening out into a bigger hole that fits over the opening on the circular canister. It was cracked and soft. I went to O'Reillys and they didn't have that rubber connector. I went to the dealer and you can't just buy that part, you have to buy all of the lines so it retails at $105.00. NO WAY!!! I decided to see if I couldn't make the part. What I did is I took two 1/4in tubes about 3 inches long and one 3/8in tube 3 in long. O'Reilly's sells a plastic T that will fit either 1/4 or 3/8. I hooked all that together. Put the 3/8s into the top of the canister and the 1/4s into the lines. The check engine light is off and it cost 4 dollars total. THat was the only place I found along the lines that was brittle and soft. Check there.

^ you can also just bend a loop of standard vacuum hose. make it a little longer so it doesn't kink too bad. it's pretty big hose, maybe 5/8 or so.
