Roller Rocker Noise
Iv'e had the Harland Sharp 1.7's in my 99 5.2 for about 15oo miles now and after the first 500 miles I've had a fairly loud whine noise (almost like I'm revving way too high) from the upper part of the engine right where the rockers are. The whining starts around 2500 rpm and gets louder and higher pitched the faster the revs. I pulled the valve covers and inspected the rockers but they're wearing fine and retorqued them and that made no change in the noise. It almost seems like it's slowly getting worse but that might just be me but the engine is much louder than it was before I put the rollers on. Has anyone else had this problem? Also I run Mobil 1 5w30 and run about 50psi engine cold and 30-35psi hot.
i don't know the answer, but if you use a short piece of pipe as a stethoscope, it will help pinpoint the source of the noise. you can use metal or pvc, about 1/2-1 inch in diameter.

I actually do have an automotive stethescope. I didn't even think of it, thanks. But regardless of rocker arm ratio it would still be pushing down on the lifter the same amount. If it wasnt I'd have lifter noise all the way around.
