Default 96 ram 2500 a/c pulley problem

I have an 96 cummins with a bad a/c compressor. It's starting to want to lock up and burn my belt. No money for a new compressor. Has anyone tried to get a shorter belt to bypass it? I tried the no a/c belt but it is too short.

Measure it out, bypassing the a/c, buy a belt of that length.

Is the compressor locking up? Or the pulley? If it only locks up when engaged, just disconnect it. (electrical)
