V10 transmission question
Does anyone know if the new ram 6 speed automatic will bolt up to a 2nd gen v10? Just curious. I know with the 2nd gen that the 47re was shared between the cummins and v10 but I'm not sure if the bolt pattern has changed since then. If they will bolt up, what would it take to make it work. I'm betting the electrical connections would be different and I know the computer would have to be flashed but other than that I have no clue.
I can only guess, but I imagine it would be very complicated and difficult. The newer stuff gets, the more and more electronic it becomes. And the chances of it bolting up at all are pretty slim without custom fabrication
I guess I need to do some research to find out if something like that is out there. I am going to have to do a tranny rebuild on the truck but before I do that I want to view my options. I'm thinking maybe adding more gears may help the fuel mileage or even putting in a 6 speed stick. I don't know yet. Depends on compatibility and budget.
Yea it would defiantly depend on the gear ratio. All I know is at 75 mph the motor is wound up to 2.5 to 3 grand which means it's drinking the crap out of the fuel. I have never seen a v10 with a 6 speed stick. I know some had a 5 speed but i think it was different than the cummins 5 speed. It had gears 1-4 plus a low granny gear. I need to compare gear ratios to confirm that.
O/D isn't working. Should be right around 2200 RPM at 75. (depending on gear ratios in the diff.)

One would think the NV5600 would bolt up to the V10. It does have the same bolt pattern. Although those HO 5.9 had a different block i think i cant imagine chrysler could afford to build a whole different line just for a couple late gen rams
Good luck finding one, but if you could that would be your best bet. And a lot more fun then a stinking slushbox
