My pops is pickin up a 1999 ram 1500 v8 4x4 he is gonna be gettin rid of his '96 1500 v6 4x2. I wanna know what parts i can take of the '96 for spares i.e. will the altetnater, starter, and stuff work?

 

Not sure if you're going to find too many engine parts that interchange between a v6 and a v8, let alone drive train parts between a 4x4 and 4x2.

Hopefully someone will give you a more detailed answer soon.

 

The alternator will probably bolt right on, but, is more than likely a lower amperage output than those found on the V-8s. Not to mention, used alts don't last long just sitting on a shelf.

A/C compressor will probably swap, as will the power steering pump. Nothing else under the hood though.

Axles? Probably. Well, the rear at least, as the 4x2 doesn't have a front one....
