Thanks HeyYou. I've got a breeze not a vacuum. So I guess it ain't the plenum. Any other suggestions? I'm at a loss.
When you say " disable the PCV system" do I cap both sides or just the valve side?

Just the valve side.

How old are your O2 sensors? Engine temp still reading fairly normal?

The O2s are about 25000 and the engine temp is about 180-190

You should feel a bit of a breeze coming OUT of the oil fill. If there is vacuum there, plenum is blown.

Sorry bud But that test sucks! LOL Did it on my 98 for years thinking it was good. NOT.... blown out it 2 spots. And 2 cats later I found DF.

Well fellas thanks for all the advice but I solved my mystery and don't I feel like a dumb-*** . When I fixed my blown heater hose I had to move the alternator out of the way. But before moving the alternator I disconnected the battery. LOL ain't that a hoot?
Just remembered will talking to my wife about freaking out over the truck. Once again thanks to all.Greg

To better explain myself how I get MPGs. I never pay attention to fuel gauge, I always use tripometer to figure my fuel mileage.
When I disconnected the battery I reset the tripometer and forgot it was reset.
Once again thanks to all,Greg
