Default '98 Ram 1500 Club Cab

I have discovered a slight problem with my truck. As you all know, it is not in perfect condition. Due to MN rain lately, my paint is getting small bubble around the scratches, suggesting rust. There are only 2 areas so far, but I fear there may be more. The first is around the right rear fender, I have a ding. Lately, I have noticed it starting to rust. Second of all, my rear bumper is dented up quite a bit, and is rusty. Anyone know where I can find a new bumper for cheap, and what I can do about the upcoming rust spots? I really don't want my truck to look like a junkyard dog. Please help.

I find most of my body parts fairly cheap on ebay. As far as the rust is concerned it happens with age... the best thing to do is to snuff it out while its still manageable. How large are your rust spots? if they are caused by things like rock pecks and are never larger than a dime or so in any one spot then I suggest sanding down the affected area with some high grit paper and then using some stock colored touch-up paint to seal it off... you should sand=> paint=>sand=> paint... until the paint is even with the stock paint... they make different sized pen brushes for application... this method has kept my ram rust free (In Louisiana) for going on 10 years.

Yes, so far they're rock chips that have been exposed to the elements. So, like you said, they are nothing major as of now.

WORKING IN A DEALERSHIP AND WORKING WITH OLD CARS AND TRUCKS MOST MY LIFE I HAVE SEEN WHAT RUST CAN DO AND IT IS DEFINATELY BETTER TO SPEND THE MONEY KNOW AND STOP THE RUST. THE TOUCH UP PAINT MIGHT NOT LOOK QUITE AS NICE BUT IT WILL SAVE YOU ALOT OF MONEY AND HEARTACHE LATER DOWN THE ROAD IF YOU DECIDE TO HAVE THE TRUCK PAINTED AGAIN. BE CAREFUL WHEN SANDING YOUR TRUCK NOT TO DAMAGE MORE OF THE CLEARCOAT THAN YOU HAVE TO. IF YOU GET TOO CARRIED AWAY IT MIGHT LEAVE PARTS OF YOUR TRUCK LOOKING SPLOTCHY AND DULL. YOU CAN ALSO TAKE YOUR TRUCK THE LOCAL BODY SHOP AND HAVE THEM BLEND IN THE INFECTED AREA. SINCE IT IS ON THE BED SIDE IT SHOULD BE FAIRLY CHEAP CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT IT IS A SMALL SPOT THAT NEEDS TOUCHED UP ON A LARGE FLAT PEICE OF OPEN METAL.. THIS SHOULD LEAVE YOUR TRUCK LOOKING FLAWLESS. THE BUMPER JUST REPLACE IT. CHECK E-BAY AND LOCAL JUNK YARDS. IT SHOULDNT BE HARD TO FIND A GOOD LOOKIN BUMPER FOR CHEAP. OR YOU CAN REPLACE IT WITH ROLLPAN..
