For those two top nuts I find it ezer to work over the top of the xcase to reach them. Try a 9/16ths wrench use the box end.

Boy do I feel like a dumb ***. The 9/16 fit great and I was able to get that nut out in under 30 sec. I reread dhvaughan post and he used 9/16 wrench also. I did see that sheriff post says to use a 14mm and I was able to get one out with 14mm, but the others didn't want to go on. Go figure.

Thanks A LOT!

Don't feel like a dumb ***. Good to read you are back on track. Change both seals while you are in there, the one in the back of the trany and the input shaft seal on the xcase. A seal puller is needed for the one on the back of the trany.

Edit: I don't even try to pop that shifter rod out of the plastic fittings, I found it much easier to remove the arm off the xcase, 9/16ths deep socket and a 3" extension, remove the nut and washer then move the arm and rod out of the way.
