just wondering
Hi Guy/Gals I'm new to this site and have a question
?? Will a 2001 motor 4.7 and trans out of Jeep Grand Cherokee
fit/work in a 1999 Dodge pickup 1500, just got told the Jeep needs to much
work done $$ and the 5.2 it the truck need a rebuild/replace
Looking for options that don't cost to much
any help will be great and thanks in advance
for you thoughts
Paul

That is no small undertaking either. Would end up being FAR cheaper just selling off the jeep for whatever you can get for it, and spending that on a used or rebuilt motor for the truck.
I've heard that its a lot of work, wiring harness etc
I don't think my tranny mates to a Hemi ?
Does the top end heads, intake, etc change over from
the [5.2] 318 magnum to the [ 5.7] 360 magnum

It isn't a 5.7 but a 5.9 for the 360.
Yes the 360 is a pretty much straight swap into your truck. The heads & intake will work on a 360. One thing to look at is the idea of buying a 360 from a junk yard and rebuilding it while still driving the truck. Then once the 360 is rebuilt you can just swap it into your truck.
You would need to reprogram your PCM once you did the swap. Another thing to know is that the heads on our stock engines are pretty much JUNK. They tend to crack around the valves. If your going to rebuild an engine think about getting some EQ heads to replace the stockers with.

Transmission, PCM, pretty much everything would have to be pulled off a donor truck and you'd still have an issue with the gauges.
Heads from the 318 and 360 do interchange, but the heads from the newer engines, (5.7 HEMI) don't.
