Default front dana 44 axle ?

I was thinking about changing the 2 piece pass. side axle to a 1 piece but has it ever been done and what parts will fit ? That will eliminate the CAD and vac problems !

Default Upgrade to a Posi Lok

4x4 Posi-Lok replaces the vacuum actuator with a cable operated actuator that puts the driver in control of the engagement from inside the cab. After engaging the transfer case, a one inch pull of the 4x4 Posi-Lok cable connects the right front axle to the intermediate shaft using the shift collar and fork, and 4-wheel drive is engaged! Simply reverse the procedure to disengage 4-wheel drive. 4x4 Posi-Lok also works great with lockers! When the front axle is locked, you can disengage the passenger side in order to make turns without wheel hop.

Works great and I love it

^yes.

shop around, there are 2 brands, the original posilok and the Alloy copy which is usually priced a little lower. prices vary widely from $110-ish to 200.

no personal experience, but i think the EMS kit is very expensive. don't know about the replacement axle?
<< EMS makes a kit to put locking hubs up front of our rams, and also offers a one-piece axle for the long side sold separately.>>

I think the OP is asking if an older 44 driver side axle will actually fit in the housing.

There are some that are out there, but, nothing you could score from a junkyard that I am aware of.

This isn't highly recommended, but it is cheap.... I know a guy who basically put a bolt through the sleeve when it was engaged so now it is always engaged. He just puts it in 4x4 and it's already locked. He told me to do the same thing, but I'm tired of rednecking everything on my truck haha.

Well I said I wasn't going to weigh in on stuff like this that I am not sure about BUT???
On Jeeps you can do this but you have to install a seal on the passenger side just before where the CAD housing is. Then you can slid a 1 piece axle into the housing with no leaks. Even if there isn't a kit out there I'm sure with a little research it can be done.
