Default Converting to 4wd?

I have a 99 ram with a new engine and a bunch of other stuff that makes me not want to give it up due to it's overall great condition. Also have a 94 Dakota sport that I like for it's 4wd, etc. Wondering if I get a dead 4wd ram of same vintage, can I take parts off, fix, and reinstall on the 99. Looking at a neighbors 2000 2500 4wd, appears most parts would be bolt on. Advice? Thanks

I was in your same predicament about 6 months ago. I weighed selling the truck or doing my own custom conversion. You'll have to switch frames and everything including the transmission as the tailhousing has no place for the tcase to bolt to. Also the driveshafts are different. My advise, sell it.

There was a guy who converted his 2wd 1500 to a 2500 4x4 drivetrain but he isn't active anymore

I figured it would be lucky to have all ready on the existing frame to bolt on a 4x4 package. The pics of the frankentruck project are impressive. Carry on lads.
