Re-indexing the temp actuator control motor?
Howdy......another non-working heater in a '99 1500. The good news is that once I took the motor off and changed the door position by hand, I now have heat. Even better......the plastic connector looks brand new! Not a crack.
But the motor itself isn't turning when I change the temp dial, so I opened it. There is a gap between the electric motor's prongs and the contacts. And there seems to be no mechanism to force them together to send power to the motor.
Shouldn't these always be in contact? My understanding is that the motor swing is controlled by circuit resistance, so these contacts seem like they should always be touching.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance........

You will most likely have a cracked interposer now. I just went through this and the plastic thing was fine until I re-installed the motor (without indexing it.) You will get instructions with the heatertreater kit, but what I remember is that the top gear comes off, then turn the bottom one with the little **** until it is just under the brown one. This centers the motor so it can find hot and cold settings. The blend door has to be in the middle too. I almost got it, about 11 is half way, but wasn't about to remove it again. Oh, and I'm the only one who is willing to share these instructions as I looked everywhere and nobody would share. If you need more specifics, I could dig them up. But like I said, you'll probably be ordering the kit anyway...
Thanks for this info. I haven't put it back together again. So if I get it right, I won't need the kit.
But first things first: I have no power to the blend motor. Zero volts coming in. I've checked all fuses. Now what? Without digging further, does this mean the temp dial is kaput?
