transfer case/rear drive shaft seal is leakin
never ending maintence .. noiticed a very slow leak from the seal that goes to my rear drive shaft on the transfercase/transmision end. i looked through my hanyes (unless im blind) i can find where it tells you how to change it. its the seal that lookes more like a boot .. right where the yoke bolts into..i think.. lemme know!!!! and if im mistakin.. i gotta rand the tranny first b/c the fluid would obviously leak out that end if i take the yoke and seal out... good time to change tranny filters and put in my deep tranny pan on huh? truck is described below w/ 46RE trannu
i dont know for sure but i didnt think there was any oil in there. if you take off that off theres only a big roller bearing thats behind there that may be leaking. you can pull it off to check. just make sure you mark the driveshaft so you now how to put it back.
ill tear into when it stops being really CRAPPY out for EVER!!!!!!!! all i can do is go muddin...break stuff... and now i dont feel like fixin any thing b/c its so crappy and cold out! STILL GOTTA DO MY EXHUAST!
I think you are talking about your transfercase seal. All you have to do loosen the u-joint bolts at the rear diff., then slide the drive shaft from the transfercase. Then use a screwdriver to pry the old seal out and pop the new back in. I replaced mine when I had my exhaust put on. It was nice to have it up on the lift.
