harmonic balancer questions

Default harmonic balancer questions

I pulled my water pump and the harmonic balancer where the ruber is falling apart do I need to replace it. I had a buddy tell me I needed to replace it if so do I get a stock on or is there a after market that is better

Definitely replace. It's easy. Just get a stock one, that's what I did.

You have another option - contact this guy for his rebuilding service - I used him to rebuild a balancer several years ago and he did an excellent job - it came out better than new.

Ok so I went to o Reilys and they only offer a harmonic balancer with the pully attached to it are these better or what ive seen them new on ebay new for 35 and o Reilys is asking 85

I believe that style balancer is used on the later model magnum 5.9 engines, from perhaps '97-'98 and up. When I swapped my '96 5.9 engine for a later model 5.9 engine, the newer used engine I picked up had the balancer with the pulley cast onto it. Not sure if they can interchange between early and late model 5.9 engines (pulley spacing, etc), however, I suspect they will.

Ok rock auto e bay every were I look has them put together for the 1995 I hope it works im going to order one tomorrow
