Well, After lookin into it, I decided against it. The shop up town is good friends of mine, They are replacing it at 135 bucks for parts, and 45 bucks an hour labor. So we will see. I'm about 10 days out from moving from Missouri to Tennessee, pulling a trailer, with 2 dogs and 2 kids.. I don't need it falling apart on me on the drive, and I don't wanna chance screwing it up doing it myself. I have no experience in that end of the truck. LOL. Thanks a bunch. This week alone Ive put in a new PS pump, Tensioner pulley, belt, Steering Gear box, Oil change, Coolant temp sensor (Which broke off, UGH) And still have the spark plugs and windshield wipers to change. Now this. I hope this is the end for a while. I am pretty sure I have put about 10k on this bearing with it bad, cause its always made this noise, since I bought it.

Put the dogs and the kids in the trailer? That does make for a quieter ride......

Let us know what the results are please. I just had taken care of a bad pinion bearing as well. It only made the whining sound coasting and with a minuscule amount of throttle, any more than that would make it stop. Preformed the slack test, and nothing unusual that I could tell. Checked the fluid, not a drop, and it had been filled less then a year before. Pinion bearing was toast, but that's about all that needed to be replaced luckily.

Just black out the windows so nobody sees them, I'm sure a trooper wouldn't appreciate kids in the back window of the trailer making faces, or holding up a "help me" sign, hahaha!

LOL!! Well, its an open utility trailer so I think I am a bit out of luck. Maybe in the tool box in the back though? It locks. No one will ever know. Hahaha

Well, here is the damage....
They ended up replacing 4 Differential Bearings, 4 wheel seals, 2 Pinion Bearings, a Taper cup and cone, and a Pinion Sleeve.. Plus the Silicone, Limited Slip additive, and Synthetic Gear Oil, along with 5 hours of labor, it ran me $514.02. Ugh. However, the truck now is almost completely Silent when you let off the gas. On top of the new Steering Gear Box, Power Steering pump, and many other odds and ends this week, It sounds and drives like a totally different truck. It still has a minor whining noise in the back end. Is that normal? Barely even noticable

4 differential bearings? There are only two in there..... what did they do with the other two? How much were those fellers?

So far as I know, there are only two wheel seals as well... unless they were working on the front axle as well??? (or, the rear axle as well.... as the case may be.)
