diagnose a grinding
I have a 1995 RAM 1500 4x4 with a three inch body lift and a three inch frame lift kits. It has 67,000 miles on it. Garage kept and never off road.
When driving, I get a grinding noise that comes and goes. It seems to stop when you let off the throttle. Removing the front drive shaft decreases the noise. I can feel a vibration in the transfer case shift lever.
What steps do I need to take to diagnose this noise?

Wonder how I missed this..... Moving to the correct section.
Drop the rear driveshaft, pull the tail housing off the t-case, and see if the snap ring is still there. Goes right up against the rear output shaft bearing.

^ and prevents the output shaft and all its glory from moving forward/backward.

Thanks... That's the one thing I forgot about. I'll do that monday, the 23rd. If that does work, I will get back to you. Thanks again...GARYKING52
