Rear End Question

The rear end that I went and picked up was a 4:10 rear end. Hopefully, this one will work. My mechanic found a 4:10 rear end for $600 that was close by, so he bought it and installed it, only to find our it was starting to go bad (lots of noise and whining...), so he took that one back off and that is when I found one that was 2.5 hours away. There is actually another one close by, but the guy wants $1,200 for it. Installation should be complete Monday. I will post an update. And, supposedly, the rear end that I bought was rebuilt 20,000 miles ago. We shall see.......

I would like to have had mine rebuilt, but the parts alone were going to be close to a grand. So the fact that I found a rebuilt one for 300 is a pretty good deal IMO. Money is pretty tight right now so I cannot have the things I would like. But, if this "new" rear end goes out, I will have to have one rebuilt and just fork over the $. If you do have a good 4:10 rear end, I have no doubt that you could get $600 for it. You just have to find someone like me who is in need of one real bad. The dodge is my only truck, and I work out of that truck, and I have to have it back on the road ASAP.

Well, the rear end was installed, and I got my truck back yesterday. For doing all that work, my mechanic charged me $400 for labor, parts, and fluid. I thought that was VERY reasonable. But you will not believe what happened while my truck was at the shop........
The shop recently had a extra bay built out of concrete block, and they had someone who was painting the block. The whole front end of my truck was sprayed with white paint. It has tiny pin-point white spots all over the grill and hood. This has nothing to do with the shop. They hired a man to paint the building. I took the truck back to the shop and the owner of the shop said that He would take care of the problem. If it's not one thing, it's another. Have a blessed Christmas!
