Default 1996 RAM 4WD Oil Indicator Light

Really puzzled. Oil light comes on at 1000 RPM, but goes off above 1000 RPM. Replaced oil pump with high capacity pump, including new strainer. Also replaced oil pressure sender. Have oil flow. Just the light is annoying. Any clue why this happens? Thanks.

Have you hooked a mechanical gauge up to it so you know what your actual oil pressure is? These sensors aren't accurate at all also possible bad sensor or short in wire? Just throwing out ideas

Oil pressure is fine. It appears that the oil pressure light sensor is somehow keyed to engine rpm. Traced all the associated wiring. Just do not understand why it is acting that way.

Oil pressure gauge is not precisely accurate.... need to put a mechanical gauge on there, and see what is really happening. The lite reacts before the needle on the gauge does. The lite is not a separate circuit. If voltage from the sensor is too low, the lite comes on. Implying low oil pressure.
