Default Drum Brake Auto Adjuster

Hey guys,

I tried searching for an answer, but cannot really find anything definitive.

Quick question:

The parking brake on my pickup has gotten me questioning a few things.

I recently changed the rear shoes, hardware, drums, and and auto adjuster hardware on my V10's rear Dana 70.

Passenger side went together without issues. Parking brake/ auto adjuster is set up on rear shoe (trailing shoe), and works correctly.

Driver's side was a little more interesting...the parking brake cable enters the drum through a hole in the rear of the backing plate, not the front, like the passenger side.

Due to where the cable enters the drum, I have the parking brake and auto adjuster set up on the front shoe (primary shoe), same orientation as when I disassembled it.

The adjuster/ star wheel both work together correctly, allowing the pads to expand and hold a position when the star wheel is advanced, just like the passenger side.

My question is this:

Will the parking brake/ auto adjuster not function properly on the drivers side rear drum because it is set up on the primary shoe, regardless of the fact that it works the same as if it were on the trailing shoe?

I am inclined to say i am over thinking this and it won't make a difference, but it never hurts to get advice from the experts.

Sorry for the wordiness and thanks for any insight.

I think it is done that way on purpose, so no matter which way the truck tries to roll, there will be a brake shoe that is 'self-energizing', (I.E. the mere act of rolling tries to pull the shoe tighter to the drum.)

But yeah, you are overthinking it.
