Default Tune up kit recommendations?

Looking to replace plugs, wires, distributor and cap. Is there a kit that's worth the extra money over OEM parts? Any brand I should look for?

(this is being spawned by very wet morning-no starts....)

A mechanic friend said I should spray silicone inside distributor and seal cap....? good/bad idea?

Thanks

Just go OEM, not dealer supplied, but from your local auto parts house. Silicon won't hurt anything, WD-40 works as well to displace moisture.

Copper plugs. I like champions. Dont get those rare earth metal ones. Trucks dont like them.
Plug Wires, any old brand will do, just be sure to route them correctly
Distributor cap and rotor, brass connections are best but are not necessary for a DD

I did all this for about 50 bucks a couple years ago. Got the stuff from advance.

Have you checked your plenum yet?

FUN FACT: WD-40 stands for Water Displacement Attempt Number 40. A rocket scientist made it working to make nuclear missiles resist corrosion better.
