I have a 1999 1500 Sport 4x4 with the 5.9 360, yesterday as I came to a stop at a red light I heard and felt something bind up. When I tried to proceed through the light I could not go and it would only go in reverse for a few inches before coming to a halt. I had to put both the column shifter and the 4wd shifter into neutral in order to push it off the road. This was the first sign of a problem since I've owned my truck. Is this a sign of a complete rebuild coming my way?

Did the engine stop? Was the bind in the drive train? There is a lot missing, but we can help you figure it out if you walk us through with a few more details.

Could be a brake seized up. U-joint. Transfer case. Transmission. Engine. There are lots of areas to look at but obviously we need to know things like if the engine stopped running and failed to restart or turn over.

Were you in four wheel drive? Dry pavement? If so, then what you experience is normal.
