need driveshaft help

Default need driveshaft help

ok so my center support bearing on my 2 piece drive shaft went out its a 1998 ram 1500 quad cab long bed 5.9 gas so i pulled the drive shaft out and the center bearing off i also took out the u joints and i chalked how the drive shaft will go back together and then before i could install the new u joints it rained and washed off the chalk i know how to put it back together but not how its supposed to be to be correct do i have to get it balanced> or is there a certain way i can put it back together with all the yokes pointing a certain way? any help would be great i really dont wanna have to get it balanced but dont wanna put it back together and have a bad vibration, thanks in advance

reassemble it so all the u-joints are lined up. Just lay it flat on the ground, use the front u-joint as a reference, and make sure all the rest are in the same vertical/horizontal plane.

Doesn't sound as clear as I would like...... does that make any sense?

i think it makes since maybe if someone has a photo of there driveshaft it would help but i think i know what you mean

See if this works. (borrowed from a ford forum.... but, it's the right idea.)


Note how you can draw a straight line down the u-joints. That's what you are looking for.
