squeal 97 dodge ram 1500
Hey, i drive a 97 dodge ram 1500 4x4, it was having troubles starting so i took it to a mechanic turns out it was a bad battery, but he thought it was the idle motor so he replaced it. every since he did that there has been a squeal coming from my air intake. whenever my truck is cold. especially in the mornings. i have replaced the belt its not that. the soudn is coming from the air intake. any ideas on what it might be? and if its real serious? thanks for help guys
Mine has the same squeel, I don;t think theres anything wrong. It actually sounds like the sound a CAI makes, even though I don;t have one. I dunno why it does it though.
If he replaced the Idle Air Control valve he most likely took the air box off the throttle body. I know this happened to my 96 1500 and when i put the box back on, a small piece of the gasket that sits between the air box and the TB broke off. When i would fire it up it would make a slight, yet noticable squealing noise, that would increase on accel. Thats a possibility.
here is a few things that you could try. See if the guy forgot to put the throttle body gasket back on. See if the air box is loose and also check to see if air box tub is loose...is so just tighten down. I hope its something simple like that. -Tyler
