Default 360 Rebuild

I have finally gotten around to rebuilding my '01 360 Magnum. It has used enough oil in the past few years to have paid for this overhaul more than a few times! I did replace the plenum gasket and plate with the Hughes kit two years ago and that didn't even make any difference in the rate of consumption. My problem is the rings. At 197,000 miles, the cylinders have no ridge at all, and the cross-hatching from the original hone are totally visible and consistent throughout all the bores. I couldn't believe it. I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. I have not taken it to the machine shop yet, but I hope to get by with re-ringing it. With the compression back where it should be and my new EQ heads, it should run like a champ.

Let us know how the bores measure out. Given that the hone pattern is still there, one would think they should be fine......

I also still have excessive oil consumption even after doing the plenum. I suspect mine is the same cause as yours...... Just trying to scrape together the cash to rebuld a motor. (and failing miserably.....)
