Axle swap from 1st gen 4x4 to 2nd gen 2X4
So far as I can find, nobody's done a swap thread about this. Done several searches, nothing popped up.
I have an 87 that's really too rusted and beat up to be of much use, but with a great drivetrain. I loved her, and do still, but her time is past (kind of like my ex-wife). I also have a 98 2 wheel drive, with bad control arms that I'm not driving at all, but it has a great motor and is in excellent shape. My thought was to pull the drivetrain (4 speed tranny and transfer case included, but not the motor) and swap it into the '98.
Has anybody done this? What are the problems getting the steering linkage set up? Clutch pedal and linkage?
