Default Driveshaft lengths.

Ok so i have been searching and searching and keep getting conflicting statements and vague answers. So here goes.

I have a 98.0 Dodge Ram 2500 12v Cummins 4x4 quad cab short box with auto tranny. I want to do a NV4500 swap and i am acquiring all the necessarily parts to do so. I am using a donor truck but it is a 2wd C&C 1ton.

I cant seem to find a reliable answer to whether or not i will need new driveshafts/driveshaft. I have an NP241DLD which i will be converting with a 29 spline input shaft.

Will i need new shafts? It would make sence that the t-case would not end up in a different position front or back or the shift lever would have to be changed... i have to convert my NV4500 to a 4x4 tailhousing and output shaft so i cant measure its final length yet but i understand it will be about 6 inches shorter then my 47RH auto. Being a short box my rear shaft is a solid one piece.

If anyone would be so kind as to clarify for me i would appreciate it. It would be nice and i imagine many others would find it useful if there is a list out there of all the length combinations. ~reg cab LB auto 2wd= xx length ~quad cab sb 4x4 manual= xx length and so on.

Thanks

Not sure the t-case will bolt to the back of the 2wd trans, without doing some mods there. Might require a different output shaft......

I have to convert the 2wd trans to 4x4 tailhousing and shaft (good excuse to put in an updated full splined shaft) i also have to change the input shaft of the t-case to match.

Measure the length of the new trans/t-case, vs. the old trans/t-case, if they are within about an inch of each other, you should be OK.
