Default gear ratio question.

Hi I own a 97 ram 1500 slt Laramie with the tow package. Could someone tell me if the gears that came in the tow package are 3.90s or 3.92s bc the sticker under the hood is like wiped off right after the 3.9... Rear is a 9.25. Reason im asking is bc the P.O. had the rear replaced amd they put wrong gears in the rear, but when looking for ring amd pinion gears online they sell both the 3.90 and 3.92 I believe. So which is a factory gear?

3.92 is factory gear, 3.90 will work out OK.

Is it 4x4? If so whats in the front? 3.90 and 3.92 are close enough it would not make a difference.

Get a build sheet for your truck, that will tell you exactly what the ratio was from the factory. Match front and rear. Sure, the .02 difference wouldn't matter over much.... but, even under normal off-roading, you will have a bit of a bind on the driveline. Best to match the gears, and call it a day.

In the areas that say "Subject" and "Description", put "Vehicle Build Sheet".
