I'm going to put a new alternator in today, I have never changed out an alternator and I don't have the new alternator yet. My question is, how can I tell how many amps my current alternator is, (120 or 90 or ?), so I get the correct alternator with correct amperage?

 

Simply get the biggest amp alt you can, they all fit. I would go up to the 136 amp it was an opt for our trucks.

 

Ok, thanks for your input, so, it shouldn't matter as long as I go with highest amperage possible? I haven't pulled the current alternator off of the truck yet, (trying to get the motivation to go out in the snow and 18 degree weather, fun!!), just wasn't sure if the amperage is stamped some where on the alternator or not.

 

Might be on a label somewhere on the alt. The one your truck came stock with is listed on your build sheet. (available from Dodge. link to form in faq section)

Just go with the 136 amp.
