Default Cummins problems

I have a 2000 cummins with 308,000 miles on it. I just replaced the vp44 injector pump and it unbelievable how much better it runs. Now after driving it about a week with new injector pump I now have oil in my antifreeze, this sucks. What to do. I am in the process of changing the oil cooler I hope this solves my problem but if not then what head gasket?

Could be with 308 on a stock head gasket non head studded. Does the truck still boost good?

Yea I have a smarty hooked up but I just run it on 1 setting. I have never boosted it over 30-35. I have never got it hot either. Hope to hell the oil cooler solves problem or I may just look for new motor. 1200 for head gasket replacement can get a reman motor for around 4000-5000.

That's what I thought. Dodge dealer said $821 in labor without parts and local diesel shop said $1200. That's ridiculous. I put a new oil cooler in it this afternoon and run some soapy water through it a couple of times to get oil out of radiator and engine then I filled it with antifreeze and drove it about 30 miles or so and there was very little oil floating in radiator so maybe that was the problem.

Sounds like you got it then. Yeah that is nuts 1200 for a head gasket. I guess if they where checking the head while it was off that would be a good deal then but im sorry if i step on anyones toes saying this but 1200 for a cummins head gasket is a bit high. I guess it all depends on how bad your head is. If its all cracked up then yes you would have 12-1400 in fixing the head, but you might as well buy a low mileage used head then.

Kind of what I thought. I will keep everyone posted with my results incase someone has the same problem in the future. Oh yea and I found out I has a 53 block while changing the oil cooler. Another thing to worry about I guess. But it's gone 308000 already.

Have went about 1500 miles since oil cooler swap with no loss of oil into coolant so the oil cooler must have been the problem. Thanks for the help guys.
