Default No power steering, hard brakes

I have a 2001 Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins that had lack of power steering and power brake problems. I replaced the PS pump, being careful to keep the reservoir full, not too full, did the lock to lock, idled the truck, checked the fluid level, and still don't have PS or PB. What else could be wrong? Thanks!

There is a shear key in the vacuum pump that's attached to the PS pump. When it shears, you lose PS immediately and have 0 breaks. Your PS was probably good but you lost the knuckle between the PS and vacuum pumps. Just a guess and I hope It helps!

Default update

So after surfing for other ideas, I went back to the shop and put the truck back on jack stands, tried the lock to lock again. I started it, checked the fluid level (nice and clear), turned the wheel back and forth, and it felt good. I took it off the stands, and waalaa, PS and PB's worked. Test drive was good and it's back on the road.

The shear pin you mention, is that the square key that couples the vac pump and PS pump?
