Default 99 ram radiator hose question

Thanks in advance for all that can help....
I have a 99 ram with a 5.2..this morning I was coming home from work (had been driving for 45 min heat was rockin but it was -7 here) the over drive dident seem to be working, so at a stop sign I turned the truck off and restarted it as soon as I 're started it started blowing cold air from the heater and I got a smell of antifreeze. So I pulled into a gas station opened the hood the upper radiator hose was cold and the lower one was hot and antifreeze was coming out of the overflow jug.....what would cause the upper hose to be cold and over heat? Water pump? T-stat????....thanks again

Do you remember what your temp gauge said? I'm inclined to think water pump because it had to have gotten hot to come out of the overflow tank. It would also explain the cold hose because coolant wouldn't be flowing all that great.

Either that, or thermostat stuck shut.
