Need to be able to talk to the PCM, to see what IT thinks is going on. Makes troubleshooting MUCH easier.

The service manual has a pinout for the diagnostic port. See which wires aren't doing what they should.

Ok still no luck re-terminated the obd-II plug still cant get a read checked all fuses and wires nothing broke, shorted or missing. On the plus side the truck started running right so now I am $^&@ed because I have no idea what was going on with it.

Try a different scanner?

Used 3 so far a cheap blue tooth elm 327, actron 9550, and a snap-on modis

ok got it worked out turn out to be a bad catalytic converter still cant get it to scan I have checked everything and cant figure it out.

Bad cat is most likely a product of the blown plenum. Bet the front O2 isn't in the best shape either.

Grab the appropriate service manual for your truck, check the wiring diagrams. See what's up with the data port.

You must not have emissions inspections in your area. They'd fail anything they can't connect to here.

Yep no emissions and it is not throwing any codes. I just cleaned out all the pieces of cat and put the pipe back up. I have gone and check everything with the OBD-2 (wires, fuses, connectors, etc... )and there is no reason it should not be reading had two mechanics look at it and they cant figure it out. On the plus side the truck is running great.
