It'll give you the opportunity to say you have one. But it will do nothing for you.

I'm sorry.
Are you pulling 8000-10000rpm with a high flow water pump on your engine most every time you drive?
Then you probably are running just a restrictor plate anyways so putting a thermostat in will just restrict it more.
If that's what your looking for then yes. It will work for you.

I use a Stant 180 degree Superstat in my truck with a 5.9 magnum engine. They are very good quality thermostats, work well and are reasonably priced. I use that in conjunction with an all aluminum radiator (CSF 2969) and a stock water pump. Works perfectly.

Be advised that coolant flowing too fast through the system will not properly cool the engine.

I know coolant flowing to fast through the cooling system won`t cool the engine properly. But, staying with a 195* thermostat that flows more coolant than a stock thermostat wouldn`t that help cool the engine a little better while still keeping a stock temperature thermostat ?. If that makes sense.

That thermostat you are looking at is made by Robertshaw. I used that style several years ago, but it is not readily available in this area anymore, since Stant makes its comparable SuperStat at half the price.

If you want to improve the cooling of your engine, install a good quality 180 degree thermostat.

Those of you using 180* thermostats in your trucks, how are they working out for you ?, any codes for the engine running to cold or any other codes ?. Im thinking of going with a 180* thermostat as long as it won`t cause any problems.

Stay with the 195. Unless you have an sct tuner or some other modification that requires cooler engine temps, you're wasting money.

I use a 180 thermostat - no problems whatsoever - no stray codes and good heat during the winter inside the truck. Engine is not SCT tuned to-date - no real mods other than shorty headers, double roller timing chain, plenum plate and a good tune-up.
