1998 Dodge Ram 4 x 4 Transmission Replacement
I have a 1998 Dodge Ram Sport 1500 4 x 4, 360 engine. I would like to replace my automatic transmission. I am looking for a transmission that is a lot more dependable than the current one. What do you recommend as a suitable replacement without spending a ton of money for a conversion?

Or, you can spend a ton of money on a new trans.The Mega Viper (scroll down just a bit) from PATC is pretty much bulletproof.
Our transmissions are known for giving out way too early. I'm on my second trans and third torque converter, every 80 to 90k. If you want one to last longer follow the link Heyyou provided and be done with it or buy the kit and do it yourself or a trusted shop.
