5.2L Engine miss fire no power PLEASE HELP
Ok guy i tried to find an answer to my issues without posting a new thread but alas i was unable to. Now for the info my truck is a 1996 dodge Ram with the 5.2L v8 when i first bought the truck (2 damn weeks ago mind you) i had to replace the oil pump due to lack of oil pressure now i have fixed that issue but i have another now. when i start my truck it fires up nice runs GREAT UNTIL it gets to normal OP temp. then the issues start i lose all power hit the gas get nothing but a "popping" from what i think is the intake pull the truck over and the idle is WAY off runs like T total sh*t i hooked my code reader up 3 different days and the codes im getting are as follows
day 1- multiple miss fire.. Miss fire cylinders 1 2 & 3 gov sensor high
day 2- gov. sensor again miss fire cylinder 1 &3 multiple miss fire
Day 3 o2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 system too lean no miss fire
I broke down and took it to the local shop for repair
they tell me the plenum gasket needs replacing "start there" i don't need a Start here line i need to fix this truck ASAP and i'm not payinh them 500 bucks to do it so PLEASE can you guys help out a fellow ram lover thank you in advance

Unplug the pre-cat O2 sensor, take it for a drive. See if it is any better. (on yours, the pre-cat O2 actually screws into the front of the cat... right where the two exhaust pipes come together. Might be as simple as a bad sensor.
Be sure to read the plenum thread, stickied at the top of this forum. Plenum issues can lead to fouled O2 sensors, clogged cats, etc.

I was getting misfires on 2,4,6 and sometimes 1 and 3 last fall. Didn't set a CEL but could see on scan tool. Caused a shaky, vibration at idle only. I didn't think it was the plenum leaking until recently. Oil use has increased to 1 qt 1600 miles. My sparkplugs are white as rice, (running lean) vacuum leak from extra air from crankcase. What I'm saying is you got what I got, only worse. I think. I got my aluminum plate and gaskets and plenum is getting done, the sooner the better.
It sucks but start there. No pun.

yea that bad plenum gasket can cause a lot of misfire issues do to a lean condition, also when i did my gasket i found out i had a cam lobe wore down to nothing as well, definatly inspect that when the intake comes off...
Any luck with the problem? I am having idle issues with my 1993 5.2L. I have the same popping, but did the key dance and did not have any codes come up. Mine runs fine, the idle is just low and i have a popping under heavy acceleration.

Sub'd for results. my truck is running terrible, shaking in O/D and almost no power. no popping but running rich I can smell the gas. (have jegs y-pipe and hopefully soon to have the plenum done). replaced the O2s when i put the jegs in, no codes either.
