2001 dodge ram 1500 extended 360 5.9 brand new upgraded 46re trans

i wanna do a motor swap my local machine shop is 8 weeks behind so i was thinking to buy a eddlebrock crate or somthing similar. anyone have any suggestions? my budget is $4,000 i live on the east coast im trying to get it done within this month. shooting for 400hp but give me some suggestions, i know it sounds crazy but i pulled the motor today it would be too easy to buy a crate and swap it.

Since you're on the east coast this guy is right up your ally.

He sells a short block or long block engine and is your best bet IMHO.

While you're at it you should just get a 408 instead or a 360 if your tranny will handle the power.

The torque output of whichever motor you decide would greatly influence just how "built" the 46RE needs to be.

What kind of upgrades have you done?

That motor is an LA Block. Not sure if it will bolt in place of the Magnum blocks.

It will bolt right in, but, doesn't have provisions for the crank sensor, the intake bolts are at a different angle, etc. For our trucks, that is NOT a drop-in engine.
