Red face Newbie needs help cat converter size any one know?

Thank you for your help. Think it is a cat converter. It's a standard. Started losing power going up hill today and by the time I got where I was going I was also losing juice like a bad alternator. So let it sit a couple of hours went out and started it and it started fine but had to keep my foot on the gas to keep it from stalling and it is fuel injected. Needless to say it is still sitting. I have a 96 ram 1500 standard 3.9L short box. Would a 89 D100 ram 3.9L fit.

Could be a variety of things. Plenum probably needs to be checked:

You don't have to have all of those symptoms to have a plenum leak, which does over time kill 02 sensors and clog catalytic converters, fouls out spark plugs, etc...

As for the stalling you may need to check fuel pressure idle. Pressure tester can be rented for $100, but you get all that back when you return it..

Default Didn't have a problem with stalling

Didn't have a problem with stalling until today after she quit like a bad altenator and sat for 2 hours than starting started. Wasn't having any problems until my husband changed the thermostat because very little heat in the cab and he missed a vacuum hose which caused her to chug and backfire until he figured it out. Still have hardly any heat either but bigger problems now to worry about. Thanks.

Smile No more stalling

We went and checked out the truck. Took off the battery cable for a few minutes and reconnected. Truck started ran beautifully. What we did notice that the battery still wasn't charging so I guess I should have listened to myself because underlying problem probable voltage regulator in the altenator. In the shop now.

Least you got that figured out!

If power loss continues check out the plenum.
