2wd 1500 eating front wheel bearings like mad

I know it's an old thread but,
I have an 01, I bought the hub with bearings installed. I used a 1/2" drive ratchet and the proper socket. I tightened with all my body weight til I could not get the rotor to turn at all, then I backed it off till smooth movement and TADA, no problems 11 months later. I was told by a tech to preload be over tightening then back-off till smooth movement. It does work.
