What leads you to think it isn't working? Is the lite in the dash coming on?

How does this prove 4x4 is not working?

not light in the dash is not working, I took the indicator switch off and tested continuity when I pressed on it with my finger.... it was "iffy," that told me something is wrong with that switch... as far as me taking my truck to a dirt road, turning the wheels and flooring it, I have always tested 4x4 this way (not for long periods of time) and always fling up dirt and/or jumped. none of this happened, just as if I was in 2h. I know the axle locks up due to the fact that when I had it on jack stands I had a buddy put from 2h to 4h to 4l, I would turn the tires to see if they both turned (different directions I might add because of the spider gears), when in 2h only one tire would turn freely at a time... I do not have enough jack stands to have all four tires off the ground.

Jack up the front end. Put the T-case in 4wd, try and rotate the front driveshaft by hand. See what happens.

front drive shaft doesn't move.... im also thinking the vacuum switch migh be bad.... don't have as much suction in 4x4 as 2wd

My 4H didn't work when I got stuck in 2wd. I put it in 4L and it worked right away.

Not sure if it didn't lock in the whole way in 4H or not. Shop said it worked good when they had it up on the lift.
