Default Transmission issues

Recently my dodge tranny has been acting up a little bit. Everything seems fine except for a few minor issues that im a little concerned about. I know its time for a band adjustment and fluid change but Im not sure if that has anything to do with it. What happens is I will get up to lets say 25 mph and let off the pedal to coast a little bit and next thing you know the vehicle starts to slow down. Kinda feels like the transmission is slowly trying to stop the vehicle but failing. If I want to stay at 25mph ill have to keep my foot on the pedal. This also happens at 45mph and sometimes at 55mph. Also ive noticed the transmission will reach like 4-5K rpm before shifting, or sometimes it will shift at 2-3k rpm its kinda random? I tested it on the highway too and at 75mph-80mph if I let off the pedal I will hear a faint grinding sound. You really have to be paying attention to hear. Has anybody else had this problem? Is it time to start saving for a repair/new tranny? Is it maybe a band problem? Truck has only 113,000 miles.

Letting off the gas will indeed cause the truck to slow down. (compression braking) That's pretty normal. The flare before shift will probably be solved with a band adjustment. The faint grinding sound.... Think I would drop the rear driveshaft, pull the tailshaft housing off the t-case, and check and see if the snap ring hasn't abandoned the shaft...... (common problem.)

^Agreed with HY, seems like best course of action.
